Prep Rifle Team competes

Three GMC Prep rifle team members competed this Saturday, October 12, 2013 in the Civilian Marksmanship Program Junior 3-Position Air Rifle Match in Anniston, Alabama. Heather Johnson of Lumpkin County won the first place gold medal with an aggregate score of 684.8. Analese Bridges shot 197 prone, 188 standing, 187 kneeling for a score of 572 out of 600, ranking eighth place. She advanced to the final round of the top eight shooters and finished strong with a qualification-plus final score of 667.8. Also, in the prone position, Analese fired 12 consecutive perfect bullseyes this requires much concentration and self-discipline. Jenna Bethea shot a solid 571 with a 193 in the prone, 189 standing and 190 kneeling. Jenna missed the finals by one point in the individual precision shooting class finishing ninth place despite significant back pain. William Peacock is a new shooter on our team and he put on an impressive display at the 3-P Junior Air Rifle Match. He shot 194 prone, 137 standing and 167 kneeling for a score of 498. In the prone position, William fired nine center mass shots consecutively, which is amazing for a first time shooter.
