Georgia College Completion Grant

Georgia College Completion Grant Program provides grant aid to assist eligible students who are within 80% of earning their degree and have an outstanding balance due to Direct Costs at their eligible postsecondary institution. Eligible students may receive a College Completion Grant award of up to $2,500, depending on the extent of their outstanding balance of Direct Costs. Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program and must be meeting all other eligibility requirements.

HOPE Scholarship

Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship is available to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement.
The scholarship provides money to assist students with their educational costs of attending college in Georgia.
The HOPE Scholarship does not pay for Learning Support (remedial) classes, after July 1, 2011. Recipients do not
receive a book allowance for attendance at GMC. At least half-time enrollment is required. HOPE eligibility is
determined using attempted hours and GPA.

HERO Scholarship

Georgia’s HERO Scholarship Program provides educational scholarship assistance to members of the Georgia
National Guard and U.S. Military Reservists who served in combat zones, and the children and the spouses of such
members of the Georgia National Guard and U.S. Military Reserves.

Zell Miller Scholarship

Georgia’s Zell Miller Scholarship is available to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement.
The scholarship provides money to assist students with their educational costs of attending college in Georgia.
The Zell Miller Scholarship does not pay for Learning Support (remedial) classes, after July 1, 2011. At least halftime
enrollment is required. Recipients do not receive a book allowance for attendance at GMC.

GMC Institutional Scholarships

All students must meet all requirements to be fully admitted to the college to receive institutional scholarships.  Some scholarships are applicable only to the Milledgeville Corps of Cadets as indicated. 

All students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Students who are Georgia residents must complete the Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFApp).  All eligible awards associated with these grants must be applied prior to consideration for GMC scholarships.

GMC Presidential Scholarship

The GMC Presidential Scholarship may be awarded to students who not only demonstrate dedication and perseverance in the classroom, but also in their community.  Applicants must meet the minimum requirements below to be eligible for the GMC Presidential Scholarship:

Minimum 2.5 GPA

  • Letter of recommendation from a college faculty/staff member or high school guidance counselor, teacher or principal
  • At least 20 hours of documented community service by an outside agency
  • Apply for Federal Aid (FAFSA) and State Aid (GSFApp) – if Georgia Resident

Only non-cadet students are eligible.

GMC Senior Student Scholarship

GMC offers students 62 years in age or older a scholarship. In addition to meeting the minimum age requirement, applicants must meet the qualifications below to be eligible to receive the Senior Student  Scholarship:

    • Apply for State (GSFApp) Financial Aid (if Georgia resident)
    • Recipients of the GMC Senior Student Scholarship may be awarded:
    • Up to 10% off of tuition only
    • No GMC fees (student activity fee, course lab fee, common access fee)

    Only non-cadet students are eligible.

GMC Service Member Scholarship

GMC recognizes service members who defend our country and support the freedom we have today by offering a military service member scholarship. Students who are active duty, reservist called up for active duty, or anyone using tuition assistance via ArmyIgnitED are eligible.

Recipients of the Military Service Member Scholarship may be awarded:

  • The balance of tuition not covered by Military Tuition Assistance

Only non-cadet students are eligible.

GMC First Term Scholarship

GMC First Term Scholarships may be awarded to those students who are entering into GMC for the first time, irrespective of the term (Quarter 1, Quarter 2, Quarter 3, Quarter 4, or Summer).  In addition to being a first time GMC student, applicants must meet the minimum requirements below to be eligible to receive the GMC First Term Scholarship:

  • Apply for Federal Aid (FAFSA) and State Aid (GSFApp) – if Georgia Resident
  • Not be a GMC Dual Enrollment student
  • Not be a transient or non-degree seeking student

Recipients of the GMC First Term Scholarship will be awarded the following:
– Up to $500.00

GMC Athletic Performance Scholarship

GMC Athletic Performance Scholarships are awarded to help defray the costs of attendance for student athletes in any of the following current athletic programs:

  • GMC Men’s Soccer 
  • GMC Women’s Soccer
  • GMC Women’s Softball 
  • GMC Men’s Football
  • GMC Women’s Golf 

GMC Athletic Scholarships are offered to potential student athletes who demonstrate a high degree of skill in their sport and who meet the needs of the GMC athletics program as determined by the head coaches and as approved by the Intercollegiate Athletic Director.

Civilian student athletes may be awarded athletic scholarships that either directly, or in combination with qualified financial aid of any type, creates a refund for the student athlete to help defray the costs of living expenses in the community or in institutional housing, if available.

Scholarship awards and limits must also comply with NJCAA rules and regulations governing student aid as set forth in the published NJCAA Handbook and the NJCAA Letter of Intent (LOI) and Scholarship Agreement.

All scholarship athletes are required to maintain stated eligibility requirements to receive institutional athletic scholarships.

GMC Law Enforcement / Public Safety Scholarship

Georgia Military College would like to honor our law enforcement / public safety members with assistance towards tuition costs while attending Georgia Military College.

GMC is extending its 10% discount scholarships for any career in law enforcement to now include their spouses and dependents when they enroll at GMC-Main Campus, one of its 8 satellite campuses around the state of Georgia, or at GMC’s Global Online Leadership College. This initiative reaffirms GMC’s commitment to back the blue and honor our law enforcement heroes and their families.

Recipients of the Georgia Military College Law Enforcement / Public Safety Scholarship will be awarded 10% of tuition costs.

Eligibility:
All students must meet all requirements to be fully admitted to the college to receive institutional scholarships. All students are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who are Georgia residents must complete the Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFApp). All eligible awards associated with these grants must be applied prior to consideration for GMC scholarships.

In order to receive this scholarship, the applicant need only show they are employed by a Law Enforcement/Public Safety agency/organization – proof of employment is a badge, or diploma, or pay stub, or ID card, or memo from their agency/organization.

GMC Cadet Scholarships

GMC Cadet Scholarships are further broken down into sub-categories and are awarded to help pay for direct educational costs at GMC. The intent of the scholarship is to offset the difference between the cost of tuition, fees, room/board and other financial aid grants or scholarships. The Cadet Scholarships are not intended to create a student refund.  In addition to these GMC internally funded cadet scholarships are also two external cadet scholarships (Army ROTC and State Service). The following sub-categories are eligible for a GMC Cadet Scholarship:

U.S. Army ROTC Scholarship (Early Commissioning Program) 

GMC is recognized as one of the Four Military Junior Colleges in the nation authorized to commission officers for the United States Army after two years of college through the Army ROTC Early Commissioning Program.

GMC offers qualified cadets selected for an Early Commissioning Program (ECP) Scholarship an institutional scholarship to cover their room and board expenses while at GMC. ECP Cadets must maintain good academic standing and continue to meet all other requirements set forth by the GMC Military Science Department in order to retain this scholarship.  The award amount of this scholarship is up to $1,875 per term.

Army ROTC Scholarships are awarded by U.S. Army Cadet Command (ROTC) through the GMC Professor of Military Science to qualified students participating in the Early Commissioning Program who desire to become officers in the United State Army. This Scholarship is a 4-Year scholarship that will cover tuition and fees for the 2 years at GMC and tuition and fees or room and Board at follow on school once commissioned at GMC.

The minimum requirements are:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Either a combined 1000 (critical reading and math) SAT Score or 19 ACT composite score.
  • Must have graduated from a regionally accredited high school or have completed the GED.
  • Must meet physical fitness standards including height and weight standards.

U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Scholars Program

GMC is an U.S. Coast Guard Academy Preparatory Program college.  Students are selected by the Coast Guard Academy (CGA) for the CGA Scholars Program. Students selected for this program are provided partial scholarship for a year of post-secondary education at GMC.
GMC negotiates each year with the respective academy to determine the amount each year.

U.S. Military Academy (USMA) (West Point) Preparatory Scholars Program

GMC is a West Point Military Academy Preparatory Scholarship Program college. Students are selected to participate in this program by The West Point Association of Graduates for the USMA Scholars Program. Students selected for this program are provided partial scholarships for an additional year of post-secondary education at GMC.
GMC negotiates each year with the respective academy to determine the amount each year.

U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) Preparatory Scholars Program

GMC is an Air Force Academy Preparatory Scholarship Program college. Students are selected to participate in this program by The Air Force Falcon Foundation for the USAFA Scholars Program. Students selected for this program are provided partial scholarships for an additional year of post-secondary education at GMC.
GMC negotiates each year with the respective academy to determine the amount each year.

U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) Preparatory Scholars Program

GMC is an U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory Scholarship Program college. Students are selected to participate in this program by The U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation for the USNA Scholars Program. Students selected for this program are provided partial scholarships for an additional year of post-secondary education at GMC.

Service Prep Program (Self Sponsored Academy Prep Program) Scholarship

The Service Prep Program is designed for students desiring to apply to any of the service academies or students that applied but were not selected by a Service Academy who wish to improve their academic and physical fitness standing for service academy applications/acceptance.

Service Prep Program Presidential Scholarships:

  • Up to $7,500 for room and board
  • First 2 Terms Guaranteed ($3750)
  • Last 2 Terms based on academic performance.
  • Achieve a term GPA of 3.0 or better while at GMC

The Civic Leader Presidential Scholarship is designed for students who are not part of any other Cadet program at GMC, who have demonstrated specific desire, aptitude, skills and are interested in participating in one of following Cadet clubs/teams:

  • Air Rifle (avg score of 280 or better)

State Service Scholarship

The State Service Scholarship program provides full financial assistance to qualified Georgia residents who have an interest in military service as well as a quality college education. The program is funded through the Georgia General Assembly annually and provides for up to 42 new annual scholarships. Applicants must meet all requirements for enlistment into the Georgia Army or Air National Guard and must serve as an enlisted member of the Georgia Army or Air National Guard.   This scholarship cover tuition, fees, room, board, uniforms and provides a stipend for books and supplies.

Scholarship recipients must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Have a cumulative 2.5 high school GPA
  • Either a combined 800 (critical reading and math) SAT score or 17 ACT composite score.
  • Be a member of either the Georgia Army or Air National Guard
  • Receive nomination for the scholarship by a member of the Georgia General Assembly.
  • Qualify as a resident of the State of Georgia

Recipients must be members of the Corps of Cadets.
Recipients can participate in the GMC U.S. Army ROTC Early Commissioning Program (ECP) while attending GMC.
