As the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. George Hogan shared, “After an extensive search and thorough vetting process, the Board is confident that Major General McKenrick will excel as he leads this great institution into its next chapter. His dedication to education and passion for providing hope and opportunity to students, combined with his proven character and commitment to servant leadership, make him uniquely qualified to carry forward GMC’s 145-year legacy of educating and developing servant leaders for our Nation. We are proud to welcome him to our GMC family.”

With 35 years of service in the United States Army, Major General McKenrick brings a wealth of leadership experience from a distinguished military career. He has held command positions around the globe and has extensive expertise in strategic planning and large-scale operations. Among his many senior leadership roles, he served as the Deputy Commanding General of V Corps and the Commanding General of Division East.

“My wife Liz and I are thrilled to be a part of the Georgia Military College family, the Milledgeville and Baldwin communities, and the communities GMC touches around the State of Georgia,” said Major General McKenrick. “I am honored to be named the 22nd President of Georgia Military College, an institution with a proud legacy of developing principled leaders. I extend my sincere appreciation to the GMC Board of Trustees for their trust and confidence in me to lead this esteemed organization. I would also like to thank the Presidential Search Committee for conducting a rigorous selection process.”

After almost 12 years of service to Georgia Military College, President Caldwell says he is thrilled with the Board’s selection, saying, “Major General McKenrick is an exceptional leader with integrity, vision, and a deep understanding of what it means to serve others. The Board has made a tremendous selection in choosing him to lead Georgia Military College into the future.  He is the right person, at the right time, to take GMC to even greater heights.”

Reflecting on the leadership of his predecessor, McKenrick added, “I have known Lieutenant General Caldwell for over 30 years. He has made incredible contributions to creating a unique business model for GMC over the past 12 years in establishing efficiency within the multi-location Junior College, growing the Preparatory School and the Global Online Leadership College, and partnering with the Foundation to increase fundraising and its endowments. He has built an amazing team of senior leaders. GMC’s mission of character-based education and leadership development has never been more important, and I am excited to work alongside our dedicated faculty, staff, students, alumni, and Foundation to further its tradition of excellence and innovation. Together, we will advance GMC into its next chapter of impact and success, providing hope and opportunity, dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation of leaders for our community and our Nation.”

A proud West Point graduate, Major General McKenrick has a family dedicated to military service. His wife of 36 years, Liz, a former English teacher, now serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the non-profit Operation Deploy Your Dress. Their oldest son, Christian, recently completed eight years of service as an Army Engineer Officer.
