JUCO Defeats Troy

GMC Gets Needed Win Against Troy University JV 24-3

Coming off a tough, disappointing road trip to New York, the Bulldogs needed a win to get back on track. Another stellar defensive effort and the resurgence of the Bulldog rushing attack paced the GMC Bulldogs to a 24-3 win over a tough Division I JV squad from Troy University.

The Bulldogs started well but foundered along the same lines as the previous week when Jarrell Crawford fumbled the ball away to the Trojans near midfield. The defense answered the call and Crawford made up for his mistake with a 32 carry, 1 touchdown, 201 yard rushing day for the Bulldogs. On the day, the Bulldogs amassed 288 yards rushing with another 46 passing on a 7/15 1TD effort by quarterback Carlton Fears. Fears also connected with freshman receiver Rodell Carter for a first quarter touchdown to put the Bulldogs ahead 14-0 heading into the second quarter.

The Bulldog Defense again kept the opponent out of the end zone, allowing only a field goal to the hosting Trojans. The defense also accounted for three caused turnovers including an interception and 76 yard return for a touchdown to start off the scoring for GMC in the first quarter. Dog defenders allowed only 225 yards of total offense to the home squad.

GMC is off next week and will see the field next on November 4 on Davenport Field in Milledgeville against Erie Community College (NY) at 1pm.
