JC softball inks nine

The Georgia Military College JC softball program signed 9 players recently, and head coach Diana Baruffa expects the group to contribute immediately.

“The incoming softball freshman should be a great addition to the returning team,” she said. “They bring a lot of speed, and they fill the gaps left by the graduating class.”

The incoming players include:
• Alex Johnson – Grovetown, Ga.: Brings speed and slapping from the left side.
• Ashley Waites – Grovetown, Ga.: Strong catcher who blocks well.
• Adrianna Johnson – Grovetown, Ga.: Brings speed and the potential to steal bases.
• Kayla Cooper –McDonough, Ga.: Top recruit with a great attitude; very fast and competitive; will start in the outfield and hit toward the top of the line-up.
• Mallory Long – Macon, Ga.: Will fill a hole in the infield, either short or a corner; Hits well.
• Caroline Conn – Macon, Ga.: Great attitude; will help at third or first; power hitter.
• Lizzie Edwards – Gray, Ga.: Smart infielder.
• Olivia Sconyers – Macon, Ga.: Solid outfielder.
• Sarah Ray, Macon, Ga.: Triple threat; solid pitcher/outfielder; great speed.

“All of these players are unique and will help out in their own way,” Baruffa said. “I am looking forward to working with them all.”
