GMC Names Elizabeth Sheppard Vice President for Alumni & Development

(Milledgeville, GA) July 8, 2003 – Georgia Military College is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth A. Sheppard as Vice President for Alumni and Development.
Mrs. Sheppard has more than thirty years of experience in education and most recently served as Director of Institutional Advancement at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Mississippi, where she orchestrated a highly successful giving program.
A native of Alabama, Mrs. Sheppard earned both a Bachelor of Science in English and a Master of Education from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. Her professional affiliations include the Association of Fundraising Professionals, National Council on Planned Giving, North Mississippi Planned Giving Council, Council for Resource Development, and the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits.
In her new role as GMC Vice President for Alumni and Development, Mrs. Sheppard will cultivate the necessary financial sources for major funding of specific institutional priorities that are focused on accomplishing the school’s mission. In addition to directing the operations of the Office of Alumni and Development, she will function in close cooperation with the Georgia Military College Foundation board of directors, serving as executive director.
