Georgia Military College Welcomes Emilie Cook as Newest Board of Trustee Member

Georgia Military College (GMC) proudly announces the appointment of Emilie Cook, a distinguished attorney and advocate, as the newest member of the GMC Board of Trustees.

Emilie Cook, originally hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, has established herself as a legal professional with a commitment to justice and community service.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Denver; and her Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law.

In 2013 she located to Milledgeville, where she practiced law with a focus on representing parents and children in dependency proceedings within the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit.  Cook’s passion for advocating for children and families led her to join the Barton Child Law & Policy Center in 2022 as the Preventive Legal Advocacy Fellow. In this role, she collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams nationwide to promote preventive legal advocacy and pre-petition programs.

A registered lobbyist with the State of Georgia, Cook actively participates in various non-profit and state and local boards. Her commitment to community service is evident through her roles on the Board of Directors for Sunrise Group, Inc., the State Bar of Georgia’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, the Milledgeville Planning & Zoning Commission and now as a member of the Board of Trustees for Georgia Military College.

Cook brings a wealth of legal expertise, dedication to social justice, and a proven track record of community involvement to the Georgia Military College Board of Trustees. Her commitment to the betterment of the community aligns seamlessly with the values upheld by Georgia Military College.
