Georgia Military College Hosts Inaugural Georgia Public Safety Leadership Institute (GPSLI) Advisory Council Meeting

Georgia Military College (GMC) proudly hosted its inaugural Georgia Public Safety Leadership Institute (GPSLI) Advisory Council meeting on December 13, 2023. The GPSLI Advisory Council is comprised of esteemed members who bring their wealth of experience and expertise to guide and shape the future of GMC’s groundbreaking public safety leadership initiative. Members include:

Julie Bradley: P.O.S.T Director of Operations

Mark Scott: Chief of Americus & President of Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police

Ezell Brown: Newton County Sheriff & President of Georgia Sheriff Association

Bill Massee: Baldwin County Sheriff & Local Law Enforcement Leader

Randy Robertson: State Senator

The Georgia Public Safety Leadership Institute, housed under GMC’s Corps of Cadets, is designed to equip aspiring public safety professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the dynamic field of law enforcement. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical foundations with hands-on training, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving challenges of the industry.

Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, President of Georgia Military College, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “The Georgia Public Safety Leadership Institute represents a significant milestone in our commitment to developing exceptional leaders in the field of public safety. At GMC, leadership is our legacy, and this program exemplifies our dedication to supporting those who serve on the front lines of law enforcement.”

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be mandated as peace officers in the State of Georgia. Additionally, they will receive an associate degree in Criminal Justice, further enhancing their credentials and preparing them for the complexities of modern law enforcement.

Graduates of the GPSLI will emerge with the essential skills needed to navigate complex challenges, make informed decisions under stress, and effectively manage teams to ensure the safety and well-being of communities they serve. The program reflects GMC’s commitment to fostering leadership and supporting the individuals who uphold the values of public safety.
