Coach Brooker and Sutton Long Receive Honors at GADC Banquet
Congratulations to GMC Prep Head Softball Coach Julie Brooker and GMC Prep Freshman Sutton Long, who were honored during the Georgia Dugout Club Banquet on January 19, 2013. The Georgia Dugout Club named Sutton Long the 2012 GHSA Class A-Public Player of the Year and Coach Julie Brooker was named the 2012 GHSA Class A-Public Coach of the Year. Sutton batted .342 on the season, led the team in stolen bases (19), RBI’s (20), and home runs (5), and runs scored (30). Defensively, Sutton started 30 games (majority at 3rd base) and made only 2 errors on the season. The 2012 GMC Lady Bulldogs finished 2nd in the state, with a 22-11 record. GMC had four players named GHSA All-Region (Region 7): Jessica Hayles, Lauren Pearson, Macy Watkins, and Sutton Long. GMC had two players named GHSA 1st Team All-State: Macy Watkins and Sutton Long. GMC had two players named to the Macon Telegraph All-Middle Georgia team: Macy Watkins and Sutton Long. GMC had three players named to the Union Recorder All-Baldwin County Team: Macy Watkins, Lauren Pearson, and Sutton Long. Macy Watkins was also named the UR All-County Player of the Year.
