Celebrating 250 Years of America

This year, our nation marks an extraordinary milestone: 250 years since the founding of the United States of America. For two and a half centuries, our country has stood as a beacon of freedom, opportunity, and hope, sustained by the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of generations of Americans.

As a retired Army officer, I have had the profound privilege of serving our nation alongside remarkable men and women who dedicated their lives to protecting the ideals upon which this country was built. Their service, and the service of countless Americans throughout our history, reminds us that freedom is never inherited; it is preserved through leadership, sacrifice, and an enduring commitment to something greater than ourselves.

At Georgia Military College, these same principles guide our work every day.

For nearly 150 years, GMC has remained steadfast in its mission to educate and develop leaders of character, providing opportunity through quality academics and holistic growth in a student-focused environment. We understand that education is more than the pursuit of knowledge but is the preparation of responsible citizens and principled leaders who are equipped to serve their communities, our state, and our nation.

As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we also celebrate the enduring promise of this country: that each generation has the opportunity and responsibility to shape a better future. At GMC, we are proud to play a role in preparing that next generation. Whether in our College classrooms, our Corps of Cadets, our Preparatory School, or our communities across Georgia and beyond, we are inspiring students to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and embrace the responsibilities of citizenship.

Our vision calls us to remain grounded in our heritage while committed to innovation, preparing students for lifelong success. There is perhaps no more fitting time to reaffirm that commitment than during this historic anniversary year.

America’s story is one of perseverance, service, and possibility. At Georgia Military College, we are honored to help write its next chapter by developing leaders of character who will carry forward the values and ideals that have defined our nation for 250 years.

As we celebrate this historic milestone, may we reflect on the sacrifices that have secured our freedoms, honor those who continue to serve, and recommit ourselves to preparing future generations to lead with courage, character, and purpose.

May God continue to bless Georgia Military College and the United States of America.
