The GMC Varsity Football/Competition Cheerleaders travelled to Washington County High School Saturday to compete at Regionals.This competition was to be the toughest of our season, as we were up against 5 other teams that represent Region 7A. The teams in this regionincluded: GMC, Lincoln, Aquinas, Glascock, Washington-Wilkes, and Wilkinson Counties. The girls completed a SUPERB performance and were rewarded with the title of REGION CHAMPS for their division! This is the first Region title for the girls currently on the squad, and the first Region title for GMC Cheerleaders since 2008! Members of the squadinclude: CaptainLeanna Harbor, Co-Captain Callie Dennis,Co-CaptainMurphie Dunn,Kensli Davis,Savannah Williams, Sarah Poole, Meg Gray,Macie Lee, Megan Bache,Rachel Merica,Makayla Harrison,Kaitlyn Weaver,Jami King,NikiThomas,andKaitlyn Bentley.(A picture of the girls is attached.) We will travel to Columbus this weekend to compete at the State Finals, which are being held at the Columbus Civic Center beginning at 9:00 am Saturday. This is thelast round of the state level competition!!!! We will compete against 15 other teams for a chance at a “Class A” State title. Thank you to all that showed up this weekend to support the girls! They were very excited to see manyfamiliar faces and to have the support of the crowd while they performed.
