Super Wednesday set for September 5

On Wednesday, September 5, 2012, Georgia Military College will again welcome the new students who will become members of the 134rd Corps of Cadets, during the annual event called Super Wednesday. The first-time junior college cadets will begin processing in the mini-gym of Cordell Events Center where they will be introduced to representatives of Admissions, Military Science, and Academic Support. While in the mini-gym, the Office of Student Activities, who coordinates and sponsors the event, will showcase campus offerings to include intramural activities, special events, and various campus organizations and clubs. Local banking institutions, businesses and organizations, to include faith-based groups, will be represented in Cordell Events Center to welcome the families to the area and offer handouts, gifts, invitations, and information about their services. After meeting with officials from Medical Services and the Commandant of Cadets, the students travel to various building on campus to include Parham Hall, the New Academic Building and other designated areas according to their specific needs. During the day, students will also meet with representatives from Finance, Registrar and Financial Aid and complete their journey at the GMC Bookstore where they will receive their initial issue known as the “Ditty Bag”. Once the in-processing steps are completed, the women and men are welcomed into the battalion, receive their room assignment and a GMC ID Card in Baugh Barracks, and by that evening, the plebe-period officially begins.
