Robert Koontz signs pledge of commitment to attend USMA at West Point

On Monday, April 14, 2014, U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) joined LtGen William B. Caldwell, IV, President of Georgia Military College, to honor Robert Koontz, a Georgia Military College student, who received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Representative Broun recognized and congratulated Mr. Koontz as he signed his pledge of commitment to attend the U.S. Military Academy.
“I extend my sincerest congratulations to Mr. Koontz,” said Broun. “Nomination and appointment to the Service Academies is an extensive and competitive process. He has rightfully earned his position, and he has my full confidence and support.” Robert Koontz, son of Lawrence and Sarah Koontz of Social Circle, graduated high school in 2012 and proceeded to attend Georgia Military College. Koontz is the Regimental Commander of the 135th Corps of Cadets at GMC where he has also received the school’s Distinguished Order of the Servant Leader Award. A President’s and Dean’s list scholar, Koontz also is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Phi Omega. Robert Koontz is pictured with U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. (left) and LtGen William B.
