The musical will culminate four months of rehearsal for a cast and crew of more than 40 students and volunteers. Into the Woods with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine combines a series of well-known fairy tales including Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and The Baker and His Wife. The witch next door explains to them that they need to geta cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold to have their wish granted: a child. Fortunately, they have the assistance of Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Cinderella before the Last Midnight, after which the curse cannot be reversed. The production will run for two nights March 26-27, 2010, beginning at 7:00 PM and a Saturday matinee’ at 2:00 PM in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Georgia Military College.
