Prep Color Guard Receives 3 Trophies

GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE PREP COLOR GUARD RECEIVES 3 TROPHIES On Saturday, 13 Mar 2010, The GMC Prep Color Guard, instructed by Master Sergeant Woodrow Jacobs, competed in the Area 4 Regional Drill Meet held at Evans High School in Augusta, GA. After four vigorous performances, GMC Color Guard still managed to come out on top with 3 trophies. C/CPT Porsche Freeman led her unarmed squad to a first place victory. C/ 2LT Destiny Smith flourished in the Female Color Guard event placing 2nd. C/SGT Brad Etheridge also led his male Color Guard to a victorious win; coming in at 2nd place. GMC had a total of 4 teams to compete in 3 different categories. Only three of the four placed but all were winners. First place was awarded to the unarmed squad commanded by C/CPT Porsche Freeman. C/2LT Destiny Smith and C/SGT Brad Etheridge also led their teams to a 2nd place win. There was also 1 other team that did not place in the top 3 but did exceptionally well. At the closing of the day, the “Knockout Drill” was held. Color Guard member, C/PV2 Billy Whitlock, placed within the top ranking percentage of GMC cadets remaining. Also a Special Recognition for Senior, C/SSG Chris Edwards, and Sophomore, C/SGT Brad Etheridge, for their first outstanding performances at the Area 4 Regional Drill Meet. The Color Guard has no special names but has a virtue that many cannot compete with. On Saturday, March 27, 2010, the GMC Color Guard will be travelling to Fort Gordon to compete in the Georgia State Drill Meet and would like everyone to come out and show their support.
