Neely Named NJCAA Defensive Player-of-the-Week

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia Military College sophomore free safety Corey Neely has been named the National  Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Defensive Player-of-the-Week for Week 1 of the 2014 regular season (games played August 23).

Neely recorded 17 total tackles, including 13 solo, and recovered two fumbles in No. 5 GMC’s 50-30 loss at No. 8 Navarro College (Texas) this past Saturday in Corsicana, Texas.

Neely and the GMC defense led a second-half charge as the Bulldogs rallied from a 29-6 halftime deficit and pulled to within 36-30 midway through the fourth quarter.

Neely is 6-0, 175 lbs., from Rock Hill, S.C.  (South Point HS).

Neely had 35 tackles, including 23 solo, along with three interceptions and a fumble recovery in 2013.  One of his three interceptions also went for a touchdown.
