Katie McClain – Character of the Week (Empathy and Initiative)

Georgia Military College Prep School recognizes Katie McClain for earning the Character of the Week Award in demonstrating the virtues ofEmpathy and Initiative. I would like to nominate Katie McClain for Character of the Week for demonstrating the virtues of empathy and initiative. One of Katie’s classmates had been absent for several days and had missed some important work for an upcoming test. Without being asked, Katie volunteered to recreate the missed work herself for this student. After much work, she presented the student with the needed material that really helped them catch up on what had been missed. Katie displayed a sense of empathy by understanding the difficult circumstances of another student and realizing that there was a need. She took the initiative and helped the student get the task accomplished. Nominated on April 30, 2010 BY MAJ Andy Anderson GMC Prep Mathematics Instructor
