Junior College Fall Honors Assembly
recently honored those junior college students who have distinguished themselves in academics and character. Mr. Daniel Simpson (left), GMC Adjunct Instructor of Political Science and 2006 Summa Cum Laude graduate of GMC Junior College, spoke to the students about the importance of education and perseverance. Mr. Geoff Mangus, Adjunct Instructor of Political Science, recognized the following students for demonstrating exemplary character: Bradley Adams, Cody Coppinger, X’yavious Lewis, Kaley Mitchell and Jonathan Williams. Ms. Laurel Tucker, Associate Professor, Learning Support Services Department Chair, presented Academic Achievement Awards to: Lashanya Thomas, Kenneth Ward, Evol Buonocore, Sherry Belcher, and Shayne Williams. The following students were recognized for outstanding achievement in a subject area: Jigna Patel – World History Jacy Dore – American History Aleph Evans – Political Science Kelly Mahaffey – Psychology Tangie Gilbert – Criminal Justice Justin Price – Homeland Security Hillary Hencely – Education Holly McGill – Music Andrew Arnold – Literature Russell Blenk – Writing Paul Creech – Pre-Nursing Kaley Mitchell – Biology Kalli Trepanier – Chemistry Matthew Tangren – Mathematics Amanda Robbins – Computer Science Jacob Tilley – Military Science Level I Jonathon Vanderhoof – Military Science Level II Roger Beaver – Military Science Level III John Williams – Military Science Level IV Ms. Amy Zipperer, Assistant Professor of English recognized the Ethics Essay Award winners: Betsy Prestwood (First Place), Justin Price (Second Place) and Anna Morris (Third Place). Justin Price read his essay, “Brother’s Love,” which was featured in the Winter 2011 Ethnos, a special issue of Reflections. Members of the 2010 Spring and Summer Quarters President’s List were honored for having a 3.70 grade point average of higher. Members of the 2010 Spring and Summer Quarters Dean’s List were honored for having a 3.20 grade point average of higher.
