John Austin Vance – (CotW) Civic-mindedness
Georgia Military College Prep School recognizes John Austin Vance for earning the Character of the Week Award in demonstrating the virtue of Civic-mindedness. “I would like to nominate John Austin Vance for Character of the Week for the virtue of civic-mindedness. After I mentioned to my class that I was going to have a superhero birthday party for my 4-year-old son, John Austin volunteered to assist me by dressing up as Superman to deliver a present for my son’s party. John Austin took the time to find his outfit, call me the day before the party to plan, and to show up at lunch on a Saturday at my house to make a little boy’s day. John stayed and posed for pictures with my son before leaving. Not many kids today would have taken the time to do something like this for someone in the community.
