GMC Rolls to victory 52-7

Coming off a resounding 35-17 win on the road against the #2 team in the country, the GMC Bulldogs were in the perfect position for a let-down against the talented Atlanta Sports Academy Spartans. The Bulldogs however rose to the occasion and earned a dominating 52-7 win in their home opener. The defense for GMC was especially stifling, allowing the only touchdown in the third quarter with the reserves fully on the field. The GMC run defense was especially stingy, holding the Spartans to minimal yardage on the day. GMC was also very effective on pass defense, allowing only short range completions and constantly haranguing the Spartan quarterbacks. Sophomore Davonte Lambert recorded a couple of sacks, causing a fumble on one that was scooped up and returned for a touchdown by LB LeGrande Harley. The GMC Offense had a bit of a slow start, but took a 24-0 lead into half, mainly on the tandem rushing by TBs Akeem Judd and Jovon Robinson. GMC pulled away decisively in the second half, with most Bulldogs contributing to the victory. GMC takes to the road again next week at a neutral site, playing ASA College (NY) at Mountaineer Field on the campus of West Virginia University on Sunday, September 15, at 1pm.
