FAIRBURN – Georgia Military College’s high school baseball team continued its winning ways with a pair of victories over Landmark Christian Academy in a doubleheader on Wednesday evening in the second round of the state tournament.

GMC took the first game from Landmark Christian 4-2 and the second 12-7. The victories book GMC a spot in the third round of the tournament, a place it has not been since the 1976 Bulldogs won a state title.

Charleston Haslam picked up the win on the mound in the first game, while Will Prestwood went 1-for-2, Travis Chipman went 1-for-3 with a RBI and Josh Gilley went 1-for-3 with a RBI to lead GMC at the plate.

In the second game, it was Nathan Arp who got the job done for the Bulldogs on the hill. Prestwood went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, Cliff McGhee went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Gilley went 2-for-4 with a RBI to stoke fires of the GMC offense.

GMC advances to the third round of the state tournament and will play on Tuesday.
