GMC Rifle Team Shoots Best Match of Season

Georgia Military College Rifle Team competed this past weekend in the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference Championship and scored their best match scores of the season. The team scored an aggregate score of 2164 the best by far for the season. The team members that were part of this four man team are Cadet Cameron Schneberger shooting a personal best score of 549, Cadet Luke Torrez shooting a score of 542, Mr. Cameron Smith also shooting a personal best score of 542, and Cadet Ariel Vasquez shooting a score of 531. The other team members that shot during the match were Cadet Reginald Kendrick with a score of 530, Cadet Howard Lane with a score of 524, and Cadet Robin Rochester with a score of 503. These shooters competed against seven other schools across the southeast that really pushed the GMC team in preparing for the NRA National Championship that will be shot next weekend. The schools that challenged GMC in this Conference Championship include; The Citadel, University of North Georgia, North Carolina State University, Georgia Southern University, Wofford College, Clemson University, and Central Piedmont Community College. The Georgia Military College Team qualified two weeks ago during the Sectional Qualifier propelling them into the National Rifle Association National Championship match that occurs at Fort Benning, GA. 13-16 March 2014. The GMC Team is excited as they are set to defend their National Title going into the match having scored their best scores of the year during this Southeastern Championship Match. During the banquet that was held Saturday evening after the conference championship, Cadet Cameron Schneberger was awarded the Runner-Up Most Improved Shooter. He started the season with a 499 and improved all the way to a 549 at this match. Cadet Schneberger completed a super conference championship season for a first year college shooter.
