GMC Prep School’s Mixed Raider team places 2nd at national competition

GMC Prep School's Mixed Raider team places 2nd at national competition

GMC’s Male, Female, and Mixed Raider teams competed in the 2016 All-Service and the U.S. Army National Raider competition at Gerald Lawhorn Boy Scout Camp in Molena, Georgia on November 4-5.  The Mixed Team after winning the Georgia state championship last week culminated their outstanding season; finishing in second place out of 24 teams at the national competition.

The competition was comprised of five events with the overall winner decided by how they collectively finish in each event. The Mixed team placed 1st in the Physical Team Test, 2nd in the 5-K Run, 3rd in the Rope Bridge, 3rd in the Cross Country Rescue event, and 4th in the Gauntlet. These scores collectively were good enough to be the national runner up.

The GMC’s Male Raider team placed 4th overall out of 12 teams that competed in the All-Service competition while GMC’s Male Raider B-team placed 9th. GMC’s Female Raider team placed 5th overall out of 15 teams that competed.

“We are extremely proud of all of our Raider teams that participated at such a high level of competition,” said 1SG Anton Jenkins, GMC’s Prep School Raider coach. “They displayed the GMC fighting spirit throughout the rigor of each competitive event. Coach Jenkins and Coach Boylan would like to thank all the athletes and their parents for supporting the team throughout the season. We could not have accomplished this amount of success without world class support provided by every team member and parent.
