GMC Prep School Takes First Place in State Literary Championship
for Fifth Consecutive Year

Out of 59 high schools from across the state of Georgia, Georgia Military College Prep School Prep claimed first prize in the Single-A Public division of the State Literary Competition over the weekend. GMC Prep School hosted the event on campus for the third consecutive year, and the weekend’s competition marked GMC Prep’s fifth consecutive year winning the state title.

“It feels amazing to win a State Championship again,” said Mark Weaver, GMC Prep Fine Arts Director. “Our students really worked hard to maintain this streak and compete well.

GMC Prep School students qualified and competed in all areas of the competition: Boys Music Solo, Girls Music Solo, Boys Quartet, Girls Trio, Humorous Acting, Dramatic Acting, Duo Acting, Extemporaneous Speaking Domestic and International Topics, and Essay – Rhetorical, Argumentative, and Personal.

Weaver and Co-Director for GMC Prep’s Literary Team, Musical Theater and Drama teacher, Jenny Morris, say getting to call themselves champions is the result of long hours and dedication from the students.

“Our students and parents are incredibly supportive of each other and really came together as a team to lift each other up,” Morris said. “We are so thankful for the support that GMC Prep families, staff, and administration continues to provide with all activities our students are involved in.”
