Georgia Military College Names 2019-2020 Employee of the Year

Georgia Military College has named Lieutenant Colonel Rob Ramirez Employee of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year. Ramirez is the Deputy Commandant for the Corps of Cadets at GMC.

Ramirez, a native of Naranjito, Puerto Rico, received his commission as a Second Lieutenant ARMOR, through the U.S. Army, Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon in 1996 as a Distinguished Military Graduate. Following his commissioning, Ramirez went on to have a long military career, traveling the U.S. His last assignment with the Army was serving as the Brigade Executive Officer for the 6th Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Brigade, Hunter Army Airfield Savannah, GA. Ramirez was hired on as the Deputy Commandant for the GMC Corps of Cadets in November of 2018.

Even though Ramirez has only been an employee of GMC for a year and a half, his efforts stick out among his peers, earning him the Employee of the Year Award for 2019-2020. Ramirez says he’s humbled to have even been considered for the award.

“I know that I am a part of an amazing team of caring professionals at GMC, as each of my teammates give their all day after day to ensure that all of our students are successful, educated citizens, as well as contributing members of our community,” Ramirez said. “When I arrived at GMC, my goal was to work hard and in the process, make a difference in the lives of our Cadets and students at GMC. It never crossed my mind that I would be recognized for my efforts in this way. I am truly lucky to work with a great team where each person trusts and supports me. I give full credit for any of my accomplishments to my team, faculty, and staff, and our great students.”

As Deputy Commandant, Ramirez has many responsibilities at GMC. He works on recruiting Cadets, developing recruiting strategies, talking to prospective students and their parents, develops recruiting materials, tours, and open houses. He also supervises Cadet daily activities, manages the Corps of Cadets website, reviews and improves Cadet Corps processes, manages and supervises Corps of Cadets TACs, and much more.

President of GMC, Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, says Ramirez does a phenomenal job at GMC, and is deserving of this award.

“LTC Ramirez always goes above and beyond for the Corps of Cadets,” Caldwell said. “He’s very involved in their lives, making sure they’re doing what they’re supposed to, and that they’re successful. He’s everyone’s biggest cheerleader, and will do whatever necessary to make sure he makes mission for the Corps, whether that’s personally reaching out to perspective Cadets, having one-on-one meeting with current students to discuss any issues, or just making events on campus more fun. LTC Ramirez is a great representation of all that GMC is, and he deserves this recognition as Employee of the Year.”

Congratulations to LTC Rob Ramirez for being named GMC’s 2019-2020 Employee of the Year!
