GMC Cross Country Kicks Off 2014 Season At VSU Invitational

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Georgia Military College men’s and women’s cross country teams got their 2014 season underway with a trip to the Valdosta State University Open Invitational on Saturday morning at Freedom Park.

The GMC men placed fifth with 123 points and the Bulldogs were led by Chauncei Davis (Milledgeville, Ga.) in 26th place with a time of 31:39.7 in the men’s 8K race.

Remaining GMC runners to place and score included:
31. Dakota Hayden (Griffin, Ga.)                               33:45.1
32. Nicholas Squall (Stockbridge, Ga.)                     34:07.9
34. Joshua York (Dallas, Ga.)                                        37:13.0
35. Ryan President (Kennesaw, Ga.)                       37:20.8
36. Nathan Crutchfield (Woodstock, Ga.)              37:21.5
38. Kendrick Hambrick (McDonough, Ga.)             40:11.8

VSU’s Jesse Prince won with a time of 25.50.0.

Nina Skinner (Palmetto, Fla.) paced the women’s runners for GMC by placing 28th with a time of 26.07.4 in the 5K race.

Remaining GMC runners included:

32. Jassmine Stevens (Wilson, N.C.)                        31:06.0
34. Tiara Bethea (Fairburn, Ga.)                                 34:07.4

GMC did not run with a minimum of five runners needed to post a team score.

VSU’s Juliana Boehm won with a time of 18:42.5.

GMC will back in action on Saturday, October 4, at the Titans Invitational hosted at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon.
