GMC-Columbus Named a Military Friendly School

For the fourth year in a row, GMC Columbus has been named to the Military Friendly Schools list, which honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to ensure success for America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students. The 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools on this list are compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. The Georgia Military College Columbus Campus was chosen as a Military Friendly School for its academic accreditation and efforts to recruit and retain active-duty military, military family members and veteran students. Some Georgia Military College Columbus Campus military friendly policies are waiving student fees and technology fees. The College also offers online classes to accommodate a variety of schedules, and the college has an admissions assistant stationed on Ft. Benning to assist active duty military and their family members with the enrollment process and registering on the GoArmyEd web site. “I always went by a code we had in the Marine Corp of honor, courage and commitment,” said Zack Green, a freshman in General Studies at GMC Columbus. “Coming to this school I had to have courage to succeed, I committed myself to the school, and GMC has an Honor Code that guides all students here. I wanted to stay military-affiliated when I got out of the Marine Corp, so this school with my military background will really help me further my career goals.” Georgia Military College, the only public liberal arts junior college located in Columbus, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. A new campus is planned to open in January 2013, and enrollment for the 2012 Fall term is currently underway. For further information visit the campus in midtown, 2601B Cross Country Drive, or contact admissions at (706) 478-1688. ###
