Girls State Track Meet Results

The Girl’s Track Team traveled to Albany over the weekend to compete in the State Meet. The Lady Dogs were able to finish 4th out of 37 teams competing. This was an amazing accomplishment with only five girls competing. The meet began on Thursday night with Lila Mitchell finishing 5th in the 3200 meter run. Friday morning Kita Aycock finished 2nd in the triple, Callie McMullen finished 5th in the high jump, and Sutton Long finished 8th in the long jump. The evening ended with Mitchell taking 4th in the 1600 meter run. Saturday was a great day for the Lady Dogs! The day began with the 4×100 meter relay team of Keely Murner, Long, Aycock and McMullen finishing as the state runners up. Later in the day, Aycock and Murner finished 8th in the 200 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles respectively. The one of the greatest highlights came when McMullen and Long finished as State Champ and State Runner up in the 400 meter dash.In the final event of the meet, the 4×400 meter relay team of Aycock, Long, McMullen and Murner captured GMC’s second State Championship of the Day.
