Georgia Military College Columbus Student Receives Spotlight On Citizenship Award

GMC Columbus student Daniel Solomon of Columbus was awarded the Spotlight On Citizenship Award May 14. A General Studies major, Solomon was honored with the award for spontaneously volunteering to help set up for an event on campus. Dean of Students and Enrollment Management Tracie Price of Columbus nominated Solomon for the award because of “a small but genuine gesture.” According to Price, Solomon “noticed several staff members setting up furniture for an event, jumped right in, and assisted with the entire process.” “No one asked him to help; he saw a need and took it upon himself to do something about it, with no thought of receiving anything in return,” said Price. The Spotlight on Citizenship Award is intended to publicly commend students for their exemplary behavior, and it is bestowed on those students who go above and beyond the standard expectations for their behavior at GMC and give of themselves for the good of others.
