Dawson Huff is River of Words State Winner

Dawson Huff, a sixth grader, at Georgia Military College Prep School, is a state winner in the River of Words Environmental Poetry and Art Contest. His winning poem is called, Deer Stand. Each year, in affiliation with The Library of Congress Center for the Book, River of Words conducts a free international poetry and art contest for youth on the theme of WATERSHED. The contest is designed to help youth explore the natural and cultural history of the place they live, and to express, through poetry and art, what they discover. Dawson’s poem, along with the other state winners, will travel to schools, libraries, nature centers, conferences, parks, science centers, and government buildings for one year in the “Georgia River of Words Exhibition.”
