Amy Zipperer Honored as Employee of the Quarter

Georgia Military College recently honored Ms. Amy Zipperer, Assistant Professor of English, as Employee of the Quarter. Amy was nominated by her peers who said, “GMC students consider Amy Zipper one of their favorite faculty members. She actively engages her students inside—and outside–the classroom. She goes above and beyond by providing a fun, collaborative, and educational environment for her students making GMC a place students want to be and a place students can excel. For winter quarter, Amy, as the advisor for the Creative Thinking Club, worked with students to host a very successful Jig Saw Championship in the GMC Atrium. Faculty and students enjoyed this competition-based challenge. She also assisted the Creative Thinking Club with hosting a creative thinking challenge at the winter quarter cadet social. Moreover, she served as a judge for the Prep School February Odyssey of the Mind Tournament. Amy not only provides challenging extracurricular activities through the Creative Thinking Club, she is also the advisor for the GMC drama club, which regularly performs short plays for the student body and guests. As advisor for the GMC Drama Club, she helps build sets, coaches’ students, and directs plays. She also brings in experts to share their knowledge and expertise of theatre. It should be noted that last quarter Amy invited the Relay for Life Team of Baldwin County to collect money for the American Cancer Society at a Drama Club event. The team raised approximately $200. Finally, Amy is responsible for publishing student work in the special winter edition of Reflections. This publication provides a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their talents. Her commitment and diligence continues to make Reflections an awesome GMC publication.” Amy Zipperer is pictured with MG Peter J. Boylan, President of GMC.
