Preston Takes Top Honor at Warrior Forge
Cadet Caleb Preston Takes Top Honor at Warrior Forge
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Congratulations to Cadet Caleb Preston, who received the highest ranking in his regiment during the Leader Development & Assessment Course (Warrior Forge) recently held at Fort Lewis. Warrior Forge, a 29 day course, is the U.S. Army Cadet Command’s flagship training and assessment exercise. This year, 12 regiments of 500 cadets each, participated in the training. Preston was named the best, of the 500 people in his regiment, for his abilities in the field, garrison, land navigation and leadership. Additionally, Preston received the highest score in peer evaluation for the entire course (a total of 12 regiments and 6,000 cadets).
LTC Robert Purvis, USA, GMC Professor of Military Science, said “Preston was ranked #1 by his peers because he is knowledgeable, confident, very team oriented and a ‘get the job done-type of guy.’ That’s what being a leader is all about.” Preston commented, “I’m here for everybody else. When others are leading, I let them lead. If they ask for help, I am happy to provide it, but privately, not in front of everyone else.” Purvis further commented that Preston epitomizes selfless service – helping the mission, not taking the glory.
Preston is a senior at Mercer University, a partnership school with the ROTC department at GMC, and maintains a 3.80 GPA. With a major in biology and a minor in chemistry, he plans to be a Veterinarian in the U.S. Army. He and his wife, Carol, have two children: Matthew (age 13) and Jacob (age 7). They reside in Warner Robins.
