GMC and Piedmont University Nursing Articulation Agreement to Expand Pathways for Students

Georgia Military College and Piedmont University Establish Nursing Articulation Agreement to Expand Pathways for Students

Georgia Military College (GMC) and Piedmont University are strengthening pathways to nursing education through a new transfer articulation agreement that creates an established route for GMC students to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Piedmont University.

The agreement provides a pathway for students who complete an Associate of Arts (AA) in Pre-Nursing or Associate of Science (AS) in Pre-Nursing at Georgia Military College and earn their associate degree to transfer to Piedmont University to pursue a bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing.

The partnership will be formally recognized during a signing ceremony on October 7 at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.

Under the agreement, eligible GMC graduates receive preferred admission consideration and a guaranteed admissions response from Piedmont University within 12 business days of receiving a completed application. Graduates of GMC’s AA or AS Pre-Nursing programs are also eligible for admission review into Piedmont’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with ATI TEAS or HESI examination scores offered as optional submissions, rather than a mandatory requirement under Piedmont’s general program acceptance criteria.

“This agreement with Piedmont University creates an important opportunity for our students to continue their education and pursue careers in nursing,” said President of Georgia Military College, Major General Terrence McKenrick, U.S. Army (Retired). “Our state is in great need of nursing graduates ready to enter the workforce, and we’re proud to play a role in preparing these students for this career field at GMC and Piedmont University.”

The articulation agreement establishes guidelines for the transfer of credits between the two institutions. Transfer credit remains subject to the institutions’ published catalog requirements, and courses must meet applicable equivalency standards. Students must earn a grade of C or above for courses to be eligible for transfer under the agreement.

Completion of GMC’s Pre-Nursing associate degree programs does not guarantee admission to Piedmont University.  Students must successfully meet Piedmont’s admission requirements, and transfer students must complete all coursework required by their respective degree plan before receiving their bachelor’s degree.

“Georgia Military College has a long-standing commitment to preparing students for lives of service and leadership, and we are pleased to build on that commitment through this partnership,” said Piedmont University President Marshall M. Criser, III. “At Piedmont, we understand the critical role higher education plays in responding to the evolving healthcare needs of our communities. This agreement strengthens the pathway for GMC students to pursue a nursing education at Piedmont while bringing together two institutions committed to preparing the skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals our state needs.”

The agreement, which covers academic years 2025–2030, reflects the commitment of Georgia Military College and Piedmont University to expanding educational pathways and supporting students pursuing professional careers in nursing.
