JUCO Golf Finishes 8th

The Georgia Military College junior college golf team recently participated in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Chautauqua, NY. GMC shot 304 during the final round of the tournament to finish eighth in the nation.

Stephen Simpson led the way with rounds of 72, 80, 77, and 74, and a total of 303. Ryan Steelman posted rounds of 84, 74, 76, and 77 (311). Eric Barnes shot 87, 74, 83, and 78 (322). Sean Ware had 83, 78, 86, and 76 (323), and Lee Towns 83, 85, 79, and 77 (324).

The final day saw the GMC team shoot its lowest round of the tournament, 304, as all five players finished in the 70’s. Stephen Simpson’s final round of 74 placed him 16th nationally. GMC Golf Coach Sonny Harmon said next year GMC will have returning players, Sean Ware, Lee Towns and Ryan Steelman.
