HS Team Advances to Odyssey of the Mind World Finals

Congratulations to the GMC Prep high school team, Extreme Mouse Mobiles, which earned first place (Division III) in the Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament held on April 16, 2011 at Columbus State University. The Extreme Mouse Mobiles team members are Sara Poole, Elliot Fairbrass, Jostin Grimes, Keshawn Harris, Taylore Brooks and Liam Faibrass. Their challenge was to design, build, and run vehicles that use mousetraps as their only source of energy. GMC’s team will represent Georgia at the 32nd Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at the University of Maryland on May 27-30, where they will compete with teams from across the nation and around the world. Odyssey of the Mind (www.odysseyofthemind.com) is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Teams of students apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. By tapping into creativity, and through encouraging imaginative paths to problem-solving, students learn skills that will provide them with the ability to solve problems — great and small — for a lifetime.
