GMC TO HOLD SUPER WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday, September 8, 2010, Georgia Military College will again welcome the new students who will become members of the 132nd Corps of Cadets, during the annual event called Super Wednesday. The first-time junior college cadets will begin processing in the mini-gym of Cordell Events Center where they will be introduced to representatives of Admissions, Military Science, and Campus Police. While in the mini-gym, the Office of Student Activities, who coordinates and sponsors the event, will showcase campus offerings to include intramural activities, special events, and various campus organizations and clubs. Local banking institutions, businesses and organizations, to include faith-based groups will be represented in Cordell Events Center to welcome the families to the area and offer handouts, gifts, invitations, and information about their services. After meeting with officials from Academic Support, Medical Services and the Commandant of Cadets, the students travel to Parham Hall, the New Academic Building and other designated areas across the campus. During the day, students will also meet with representatives from Finance, Registrar and Financial Aid and complete their journey at the GMC Bookstore where they will receive their initial issue known as the ‘Ditty Bag.’ Once the in-processing steps are completed, they are welcomed into the battalion, receive a room assignment in Baugh Barracks, and the plebe-period officially begins. The final orientation program for new students for fall quarter at Georgia Military College will be held on Monday, September 13, and classes begin on Wednesday, September 15. For additional information about Super Wednesday please contact Brenda Brown in the Office of Student Activities at Georgia Military College, 478-387-4718.
