GMC Senior Tabb McGill to Attend Congressional Seminar in Washington, DC

(Milledgeville, GA) April 30, 2003 – Georgia Military College high school senior, Tabb McGill, was recently chosen a state winner, by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, for his participation in the Dames’ essay contest: “Is it Hard to Embrace Patriotism in Today’s Society?” The National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia will present Tabb with a scholarship to attend the Washington Workshops Congressional Seminar, to be held in Washington, DC, June 21 – 27, 2003. McGill will be among 60 other high school seniors from across the nation to attend the weeklong seminar, where activities will include attending congressional hearings, meeting their congressional delegations, participating in a mock congress, and touring historic landmarks.
The son of Tim and Teri McGill of Milledgeville, Tabb is currently the battalion executive officer and holds the rank of major. He was chosen as GMC’s STAR Student, and is active in the National Honor Society, Special Olympics, JROTC Summer Camp, Youth Leadership Baldwin, and the GMC high school varsity soccer team. Tabb McGill plans to attend The University Honors College at Auburn in the fall.
The National Society of Colonial Dames of America is a patriotic organization that promotes an interest in the nation’s past, with specific efforts in restoring historic buildings and promoting patriotism through the nation’s youth.
