Georgia Military College Online Criminal Justice Program Named One of the Best in the Nation by

Georgia Military College’s Online Criminal Justice Program has been recognized as one of the best Public Safety Administration programs in the country for 2018 by, a leading provider of higher education research and college planning resources. The ranking highlights accredited, not-for-profit institutions who have developed exceptional academic online programs for students looking to advance their knowledge, skills, and career in public safety administration.

Georgia Military College Social and Behavioral Sciences Division Chair, Lynda Lamarre, says this recognition by shows the important work that those in the Criminal Justice field do in today’s society.

“In light of recent and current events, we as a society need to have a better understanding of the criminal justice system, our rights, and responsibilities,” Lamarre said. “The recognition further encourages students to enter the program, knowing it is of top quality, and hopefully will lead to a successful career in public service.  As more GMC graduates enter the workforce in that field, the program will continue to be promoted and grow, and as a consequence, so will our college. ‘Duty, Honor, Country’ – our motto in action.”

Samuel Akers, the Program Development Coordinator for the Criminal Justice program, says GMC faculty put in hard work to make this program succeed.

“I am extremely proud of our online Criminal Justice program and the success it has garnered,” Akers said. “This success is due to our online faculty and their dedication and commitment to the school’s mission. They are constantly striving for better ways and practices to enhance the student learning process. Being recognized by is an honor and will be internalized as such by all involved with the Criminal Justice program.”’s ranking uses a methodology grounded in statistical data compiled from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and College Navigator, both of which are hosted by the National Center for Education Statistics. The aim is to objectively assess relative quality based on academic outcomes, affordability, and the breadth and depth of online learning opportunities.

Georgia Military College added its online campus five years ago. Since then, Vice President of Information Technology, Jody Yearwood, says the degree programs have continuously climbed in enrollment.

“Since the launch of these degree programs, we have seen steadily increasing interest in these types of degrees,” Yearwood said. “We have a knowledgeable and dedicated faculty that work very hard to train our future public servants to assume their roles in their chosen profession. We take great pride in the students that complete our programs, and we look forward to watching the great things they will accomplish in their futures.”
