GMC Hosts Southeastern Air Rifle Conference

Georgia Military College hosted the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference this past weekend. There were 32 shooters, representing Clemson, The Citadel, North Georgia College State University, Mercer University and GMC. The Citadel took first place in team scores, firing a 2258. NGCSU senior, Tori Kostecki was top shooter with a score of 576 out of 600. Ariella Vann, who hails from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was top shooter for GMC with a score of 501. Out of the six targets required in the standing position she fired a score of 90, which in competition is a GMC record. Larry Massey of Ideal, Ga. had a score of 481 and shot a 90 in the standing position. He will hold the record with Cadet Vann. Other team members for GMC were Joseph Henao firing a 483 and Iesha Pettway of College Park, Ga. firing a 425. Daniel Elling shot a 409 and hails from Charlotte, North Carolina. The next match will be hosted at The Citadel on February 12-13, 2011. The match will be reported as a NRA Intercollegiate Sectional and a NCAA qualifier. Georgia Military College has had past honors as the top two year college in SEARC competition.
