GMC-Fayetteville Opens Campus Expansion

GMC-Fayetteville Opens Phase II Expansion

This academic year marks a historic milestone for Georgia Military College as GMC’s Fayetteville campus opened its new expansion at their site on Veterans Parkway in Fayetteville. The first day of classes for the fall quarter, students were welcomed to a new 11,000 square-foot addition that provides a new biology and chemistry lab, eight more classrooms, a connecting lobby and outside courtyard, additional office space for staff and faculty, and additional parking space. Now with the complete expansion, the Fayetteville campus is capable of supporting 1,000 students and twice the number of full-time faculty.

Executive Director of GMC’s Fayetteville, Fairburn, Stone Mountain, and Zebulon campuses, Brigadier General Rock Donahue, says this addition will accommodate increased enrollments and growth in academic offerings, and create more opportunities for students in the Fayetteville/Fayette County and greater-Atlanta Metro area to receive post-secondary education.

“When we opened GMC-Fayetteville in 2015, we started the year with around 300 students, and now in the fall of 2019, we’ve more than doubled that number, so as we’ve grown our student population it was absolutely necessary that we grow our campus too,” Donahue said. “Fayetteville and Fayette County see the value in post-secondary education, and at GMC we want to be able to accommodate every student seeking a college degree and that’s why this expansion is so important to our community and the Metro-Atlanta area as a whole.”
