GMC Columbus Ethics Bowl Team Places Second in Tournament Georgia Military College Columbus campus would like to congratulate its Ethics Bowl Team for placing second in the Georgia Military College Regional Ethics Bowl competition in Valdosta. The Columbus team, comprised of Amber Tibbs and Rebekah Hill of Columbus, placed second in the competition among six teams from other GMC campuses. The winner of the competition, Warner Robins, can advance to the regional Ethics Bowl Intercollegiate Tournament. Tibbs and Hill faced difficult circumstances before traveling to Valdosta after two additional members of the team were unavailable to travel. As a result, Tibbs and Hill had to research additional ethics scenarios left by their teammates. Dr. Keshia Easterling, ethics bowl coach, was motivational and helpful as Tibbs and Hill studied for the tournament, and Dr. Stephen Barber, ethics committee advisor, said, “In order to handle this, [Hill and Tibbs] had to take on additional preparation and responsibility.” When asked about placing in the Bowl, Tibbs said, “We went down there and really did a great job.” Hill added, “It was amazing.” The next Georgia Military College Ethics Bowl competition will be in the fall and is tentatively set to be a regional competition that includes other 2-year colleges. Georgia Military College, the only public liberal arts junior college located in Columbus, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. Some of the majors offered are business administration, criminal justice, education, homeland security, pre-nursing, and psychology. Enrollment for the Summer 2012 term is currently underway.
