GMC Cadet Jesse Negri Announced as the Top Military Junior College Cadet in the Nation
Georgia Military College Cadet Jesse Negri was chosen as the top Cadet out of all five Military Junior Colleges in the Nation by the U.S. Army Cadet Command. The official award was made in September 2015 by USAA at Fort Knox Kentucky.
The USAA Scholarship Award goes to the top cadet across all five Military Junior Colleges in the United States. Nominees must meet certain criteria and receive their Professor of Military Science’s endorsement for his or her overall embodiment of the “scholar, athlete, warrior concept.”
In CDT Negri’s endorsement letter, Battalion Commander Thomas M. Nelson stated, “Cadet Negri is the most talented and naturally gifted Cadet leader that I have encountered in three years as a professor of military science. He is the number one Cadet on the GMC Order of Merit List and currently, as my Cadet Battalion Commander he consistently demonstrates a servant-leadership style which produces exceptional results.”
Cadet Negri exemplifies all the qualities of an outstanding student leader and has excelled in all arenas of student life at Georgia Military College, ranging from academics, service and athletics. Cadet Negri has maintained a 4.0 cumulative academic GPA for all five quarters he has been in attendance at Georgia Military College and has made the President’s List Honors each quarter.
CDT Negri was a member of the Army Ten Miler team as well as the Georgia Military College Ranger Challenge Team. Additionally, he has achieved the Georgia Military College standard to be an Order of Centurion and ran the Soldier Marathon at Fort Benning, GA. CDT Negri also participated in the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon, the ruck march up Currahee (twice in the same day), and most recently earned the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge at Mississippi State University.
Cadet Negri demonstrates a steadfast commitment to serve the military, his subordinates, and the entire nation. He excelled at the Cadet Summer Training and also participated in Cadet Troops Leadership Training with the 3-1 CAV at Fort Benning. Additionally, CDT Negri received the Superior Cadet Award at the annual Military Ball for his outstanding performance.
In addition to the esteemed honor of being named the top Military Junior College Cadet, CDT Negri received a $2,500 cash scholarship.
