GMC moved above the .500 mark at 5-4 with its second straight win at Quigley Cox Stadium at Verizon Wireless Field. Seven different Bulldogs scored as GMC put up points via the run, pass, field goal and a returned interception for a touchdown. GMC took the lead less than four minutes into the game and never looked back en route to the 35-point win. Tyler Herman went 16 of 32 for 290 yards with two TD passes and also rushed for a score. Dieonte Bryant and Keinan Lewis caught the TD passes from Herman to go along with two scoring runs from Quez Nesbitt and one from Jovon Robinson. Taylor Payne added a 40-yard interception return for a TD and Nicholas St. Germain kicked a 34-yard field goal. GMC is averaging 42.7 points-per-game with an attack that puts up 175.3 rushing yards and 251.8 passing yards per game. Cannon Thomas led GMC with seven tackles and two pass-breakups while Janor Jones and Case Woodward each had six tackles. Corey Neely added five tackles and an interception while Brenton Wimberly had an interception. GMC’s defense allows just 20.7 ppg with opponents rushing for 118.8 yards and passing for 165.9 yards per contest. Quarterback Tyler Herman enters the final regular-season game with 2,183 passing yards and 23 TDs/8 interceptions after completing 142 passes on 264 attempts. Jovon Robinson leads the Bulldogs’ rushing attack with 718 yards on 112 carries and eight TDs. Julian Williams leads all receivers in catches with 37 (498 yards/4 TDs) while Dominique Taylor, who is injured, has 23 receptions with team-highs of 510 yards and six TDs. Head coach Bert Williams also tied Lew Cordell for career wins at GMC with 118. Cordell coached at GMC from 1936-58 and compiled a 118-36-7 record with 12 junior college championships. With a win over Lackawanna, Williams (currently 118-41 in his 15th season) would become GMC’s all-time leader in wins with 119.
Lackawanna: November 1 – defeated Dean College 22-7 in Franklin, Mass.
Lackawanna also moved above the .500 mark at 5-4 (2-3 in the Northeast Football Conference) with the 15-point win over Dean. Lackawanna fell behind 7-0, but scored the final 22 points to secure the victory. DeAndre Black had a 56-yard punt return and Terry Norris added TD runs of 25 yards and 63 yards. Trevon Wesco added a pair of two-point conversion runs and failed on a third attempt. Lackawanna held Dean to 198 yards of total offense, including 149 rushing and 49 passing. The Falcons were penalized 10 times for 150 yards and now have 91 penalties for 918 yards in nine games this season. Lackawanna, averages 29.9 points-per-game, features a balanced attack as the Falcons rush for 193.3 yards-per-game and pass for 184.2 yards-per-game. Defensively, the Falcons allow just 15.9 ppg with opponents averaging 90.8 rushing yards and 114.2 passing yards. Lackawanna’s season started out with three straight wins, but the Falcons dropped four of their next five before last week’s win over Dean.
