Georgia Military College Columbus Students Place in Constitution Day Essay Contest

Georgia Military College Columbus Students Place in Constitution Day Essay Contest Three Georgia Military College Columbus students were awarded cash prizes during the Fall 1 term for placing in GMC Columbus’ Constitution Day essay contest. The first place prize was awarded to Nastralia Perry of Phenix City, while second and third place prizes were given to Terrence Nellon of Columbus and Kristy Sutton of Columbus, respectively. In honor of the recent Constitution Day holiday, the contest was held in lieu of the ethics-themed essay contest that normally takes place each term. According to GMC’s Ethics Program Coordinator, Dr. Stephen Barber of Columbus, the contest was designed “to make our students more aware of the importance and uniqueness of the Constitution.” A committee of faculty members chose the three winners based on their demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Constitution and their use of critical thinking skills. First place winner Nastralia Perry wrote “The Constitution exemplifies what our country stands for and is the pillar that continues to uphold the law and human rights that we have come to value.”
