Chris Brown – (CotW) Altruism

Georgia Military College Prep School Recognizes Chris Brown for earning the Character of the Week Award in demonstrating the virtue of Altruism. “I would like to nominate Chris Brown for Character of the Week for the virtue of altruism. The National Honor Society is participating in the Souper Bowl of Caring. This organization supports local charities who fight hunger. We have asked all students to donate money on their own accord. While many students have donated to this great cause, Chris demonstrated the ultimate altruism. Wednesday morning Chris brought in a bag and told me he wanted to donate the rolled change in the bag to Souper Bowl of Caring. When I opened the bag, I was astounded to find $78.50 in rolled change—of his own money! For any seventeen-year-old student, $78.00 is a lot of money, and Chris chose to donate the money to local families rather than spend it on something for himself. Equally amazing, Chris did not donate his hard earned money for recognition or accolades; he truly gave as a result of his ‘unselfish concern for the welfare of others.’” MAJ Amy Raines Lee HS Language Arts/ NHS Advisor/ Literary Sponsor
