April 30, 2012 Byrne sisters on mission to serve, reach others From staff reports The Union-Recorder The Union-Recorder Mon Apr 30, 2012, 03:09 PM EDT MILLEDGEVILLE — Alex and Anna Byrne are on a evolving quest to find life’s fulfillment through their service to others, within the local community, across the nation, and around the globe.

Since the Georgia Military College Prep School seniors found their passion for giving back to others as kids, the teens have kept busy every summer providing their time to help make a difference through their selfless volunteer efforts.

The sisters have dedicated their free time to support Relay for Life, Hands On Milledgeville, the annual potato drop, numerous organizations through the GIVE Center, and mission trips and activities within their church ministry at Good Shepherd Church of Nazarene.

The Byrne sisters were recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award during the Georgia College GIVE Center’s annual National President’s Volunteer Service Award ceremony last month for completing a minimum of 4,000 hours of volunteer service throughout their life span.

The teens will be enrolling at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn. come August. Anna plans to major in religion with a minor in outdoor education while Alex will major in exercise science and work toward a minor in youth ministry.

In the meantime, the sisters are looking forward to the Georgia District Church of the Nazarene’s annual Kids Camp in June, immediately followed by PreTeen Camp and the Royal Family Kids’ Camp before they head to Alaska for this year’s mission trip slated in July.
