Bulldogs make it 8 in a row

GMC Junior College Softball added two more wins to the season today in Phenix City Alabama against Chattahoochee Valley Community College pushing their win streak to 8 in a row. GMC wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning with back to back lead off doubles by Sarah Ray and Kayla Cooper. The bats stayed hot all day especially in the 4th inning when GMC added 8 runs to the board scoring all but one Bulldog that came to bat and increasing the lead to 10. Kasey Durden was outstanding on the mound for the Bulldogs only allowing 2 hits and striking out 6 batters in 5 innings of work. GMC won the first game 14 to 0 in 5 innings due to the college run rule (8 runs after 5innings). CVCC tried to battle back in the second game of the doubleheader taking the lead in the 2nd with a two run inning. GMC tied in the 3rd when Durden brought Ray home from 2nd with a shot off the wall in left field. The Bulldogs would control the game the rest of the way putting up 4 more runs in the 4th and 2 runs in the 6th. Katie Maddox had another great pitching performance for the Bulldogs allowing only 5 hits in 7 innings. Defensively, GMC was great all day keeping CVCC out of scoring position every inning but one. Offensively, the Bulldogs out hit CVCC 24 to 7. Sarah Ray led the way at the plate finishing the day 6 for 8 with 4 runs scored, and 2 doubles. Korie Wilson had six RBI’s two of which were part of a two run homerun which she rocketed over the left centerfield fence. Kasey Durden not only got one win on the mound for the Bulldogs but she also helped out at the plate finishing 500 for both games. GMC’s next home game will be this Tuesday at 2pm and 4pm. Come out and watch the Bulldogs challenge nationally ranked Darton College.
