Augusta Expands

GMC-AUGUSTA COMMUNITY COLLEGE EXPANDS

Martinez, GA – GMC-Augusta Community College, the Augusta area campus of Georgia Military College (GMC), invites the media and public to the ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Science and Technology Building at 115B Davis Road, on Friday, June 30, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. The 10,000 square-foot building adds a biology lab, a chemistry lab, an additional computer lab and four additional classrooms to the college’s facility in Martinez. Parking for 300 cars will also be part of the current expansion of the campus. Refreshments and tours of the building will be available.

GMC is a public-independent liberal arts junior college founded in 1879 with its main campus in Milledgeville, Georgia and campuses in or near five major cities throughout the state (Augusta, Atlanta, Columbus, Valdosta, and Warner-Robbins). GMC’s goal is to give our students the opportunity to develop their intellectual skills and ethical values in a learning based educational environment. Approximately 1,100 students from Augusta-Richmond and Columbia counties as well as other nearby counties attend the local campuses in Martinez and on Fort Gordon each quarter. These programs emphasize transferable, academic, college core and elective courses. Only the Milledgeville campus has an ROTC program and a uniformed Corps of Cadets.

* Criminal Justice
* Education

* Pre-Nursing

Associate in Applied Science
* Computer Information Systems
* Criminal Justice
* General Studies

GMC is on the quarter system. Classes are available days, nights, and Saturdays and average about 20 students per class. Free tutoring is available in English, math, and sciences and financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
