GMC Defeats Lackawana 43-25

Georgia Military College JC Football traveled to the neutral site of Carter-Finley Stadium on North Carolina State University’s campus to take on rival Lackawana College of PA Sunday and came away with a hard fought 43-25 win. The Lackawana Falcons came into the game with the #6 ranked defense in the country and the Bulldog Offense answered the challenge by racking up over 600 yards of offense on the day. Freshman quarterback Clay Chastain went 21 of 31 for 342 yards and 5 touchdowns with WR Terome Grant and running back Akeem Judd each hauling in two touchdown receptions a piece. Judd also led all GMC rushers on the day with 158 yards on 10 carries and an additional score on the ground. Defensively, the Bulldogs took on one of the top rushing offenses in the country and held them to 25 points on the day, creating four turnovers, and seemingly always making a big play when it was needed most. Sophomore Neville Hewitt led all tacklers with 13 tackles and 2 big pass breakups and FS Tiquention Coleman and LB Jakevin Jackson each had big interceptions in the game. Jackson and Caleb Molby also had critical forced fumbles in the second half for the Bulldogs to end Falcon drives. On the strength of the Bulldogs season schedule and a strong season ending win, the Bulldogs received and accepted an invitation to the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl in Copperas Cove, TX where they will take on Texas JUCO champion #5 Navarro College who finished their season at 9-2. Navarro College will be the fourth top five ranked team the Bulldogs have faced this season. The game will be played December 1 at 11am CST. Please congratulate these young men when you see them for a great season and for representing our college extremely well.
