Whistleblower Speaks

Tobacco whistleblower to speak today

Dr. Victor DeNoble will be the guest speaker June 22 for the 14th annual National Youth Sports Program and the second Oconee Teen Institute.

DeNoble, known as the \”tobacco whistle blower,\” testified before Congress that \”big tobacco\” knew smoking was addictive and they were lying to the public from the beginning.

DeNoble is determined to deliver the truth that the tobacco industry knew about nicotine, and that it was consciously killing people who are addicted.
In April 1994, seven executives from the tobacco industry stood before Congress and testified that nicotine was not addictive, but rather it was a choice. Two weeks later, DeNoble testified that Philip Morris and the tobacco executives knew 10 years earlier that nicotine is an addictive drug and that the product kills people.

The first presentation will be at 10 a.m. and the second presentation will be at 7 p.m. Both presentations will be held in the gym at Georgia Military College and are open to the public. They are being presented by the Oconee Prevention Resource Council.
